FOR THE RECORD I did not expect President Obama to come out guns blazing yesterday with a scathing indictment of the shooting down of a Malaysian Airliner. But I sure as hell didn't expect this.
"It looks like it might be a terrible tragedy"? Really? Did the teleprompter take the day off? By the way at the end of this clip he launched into his prepared remarks about Republicans are the devil, blah, blah, blah. What a national embarrassment this man is. For my friends on the left who criticized George W Bush for his handling of when he was notified about 9/11, here you go. At least when he did come out and make remarks he didn't look like an ahole.
SO WHAT DO WE KNOW SO FAR? There seems to be little doubt that the plane was shot down. The Ukrainians say they have phone calls between Russian separatists showing it was the rebels. But the rebels say uh-uh. Russia says, it wasn't us. I will do a dramatic reading of the phone calls today, and if they are truly authentic, there is no doubt who shot this plane down. The question is, what do we do? Before you tell me this isn't our circus and not our monkeys, consider this: our American airliners were still flying routes over this part of Ukraine. It could have just as easily been a Delta plane, or an American plane full of students returning from an overseas trip. This wasn't a targeted strike against Malaysia, they were just the unlucky bastards who caught the missile.
AND IN OTHER NEWS OF ALLIES WE'RE HANGING OUT TO DRY Israel is getting ready to launch a ground attack into Gaza to finally deal with Hamas once and for all. If you didn't see yesterday's blog, please check out the link to the Arab Media watchdog. Why? You'll see that the Arabs are not very happy with Hamas either, even if they hate Israel more. But now the White House is scolding Israel for not doing enough to keep civilians in Gaza safe. Yep. Israel, which has made phone calls and papered Gaza with leaflets telling civilians to hit the road, is being blamed, but not Hamas, which is open about using it's people as human shields. It's a terrible shame that civilians, including women and children are being killed, but when did we expect warfare to become sanitized and perfect? Maybe our State Department would do well to remember the civilians killed in Iraq, Afghanistan and New York and DC. If Hamas keeps it's missiles next to schools, what do they expect? And leave it to Vox to come to Hamas' defense.
THE GAY CAKE APPEAL The owner of Masterpiece Cakes is appealing the Colorado Civil Rights Commission's order to bake a gay wedding cake.
WILL POLIS PAY? For the havoc he's creating with his anti-fracking initiatives? Part of me admires him for sticking to his guns although it could make him a pariah. If the Dems lose the Senate in the fall (fingers crossed) and the Udall race is a part of that, his career in the Democrat party is largely over. But he doesn't seem to care or he doesn't think he'll lose. This should be fun to watch.
DRIVER'S LICENSES FOR ILLEGALS Thankfully the people who already breaking a really huge law won't have to break more just to drive to jobs they aren't legally able to hold. Just saying.
