WHY IS THE POST OFFICE BUYING AMMO?  I really dislike Infowars and Alex Jones but this story sure is interesting.  Why is the post office soliciting bids for ammo?  Is this something that has been done before but we just didn't know it?  For that matter, why is NOAA buying hollow points for certification purposes?  My initial thinking is that this is a concerted effort to slow down the supply of ammo for the rest of us but that sounds crazy and paranoid.  Doesn't it?

OBAMACARE: THE ALBATROSS OF DEMOCRATS Have you ever heard the poem The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner?  In it, an albatross starts following a ship, which was considered good luck.  One of the seaman shoots it with a crossbow and kills it.  So sure was the rest of the crew that his act doomed the ship (and it did, btw) that they made him wear the dead albatross around his neck until they all succumbed to the "curse".  What a lovely analogy for Obamacare and Democrats right now, don't you think?  Especially in Colorado, where Obamacare is ever MORE unpopular than ever before, much to the chagrin of Andrew Romanoff, who would prefer you forget his support of Obamacare.

BOY THOSE BACKGROUND CHECKS ARE WORKING...OR NOT The stats for the number of gun purchase denials have been touted by Democrats as proof that they new expanded background check bill they passed last year unilaterally is working.  Except there is no way to know if it really is.  Why?  Because they don't keep track of where the applications come from.  Nicely done, Democrats, now you can claim victory with absolutely nothing to back it up.

IT'S ALL HOT AIR I'm all in favor of alternative energy but wind isn't going to make up much of our total electricity without huge leaps in efficiency, storage and transfer of energy.  And as long as the industry is dependent completely on other people's money to survive, there is very little chance those innovations will occur in a timely fashion.  Great column on the high subsidies here.

'MERICA OR AMERICA, THE SCHOOL STILL BOTCHED IT The Fort Collins High School story lives on and this story does a nice job explaining what happened and posits some reasons for the strong reaction to the story.  But of course there has to be a complete dumbass comment from a sociologist that makes my head explode.  Here is it:

"Upon hearing about the story, University of Minnesota sociologist Doug Hartmann believes this event has shown light on “different visions about America” and possibly three groups of people: those who are against immigration, those who support it but believe immigrants should assimilate and adopt a preconceived idea of a traditional America lifestyle, and those who believe in the U.S. being a cultural melting pot."

He obviously has no understanding of what the "melting pot" is all about.  He should have used the pc term of today "salad bowl" if that's how he feels.

A MAJORITY SAY ARM TEACHERS That's some of the news from the latest Quinnipiac poll out of Colorado.  It's getting harder and harder to argue with that logic after what happened at Arapahoe High School.
