A Colorado group opposing new gun control laws says 61 percent of likely voters in Pueblo are opposed to a package of five gun control laws pending in the state Senate this week.

Those statistics are the reverse of a statewide poll in late December that showed between 60 and 80 percent of voters wanted tougher gun restrictions.

The Pueblo-area poll, aimed at state Sen. Angela Giron's 3rd District, was done by Public Opinion Strategies, a Virginia firm hired by Colorado Citizens Protecting Our Constitution, a group opposed to the gun control legislation.
