Garfield County Wildfire Growing

A long-burning fire in Garfield County has tripled in size over the last day or so. The "Middle Mamm" fire was started by lightning in late July, and has been burning steadily at about 300 acres. Today, it's up to nearly 950 acres, located about ten miles south of the town of Rifle. National Forest Service officials say Mother Nature has calmed down since last night; high winds have blown the fire over the last several days. No structures are threatened, and there are no evacuations. The fire's burning mostly on National Forest Service land.
