The Rundown - Tuesday 5/30/17 - Bunning, Allman, Zbig RIP, Is your organic food actually organic?; Denver Post reporter fired for racist comment after Indy 500; Pres Trump's Memorial Day speech

A few well-known folks died over the extended Memorial Day weekend, including Hall of Fame pitcher turned Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY), country rocker Gregg Allman, and Jimmy Carter's national security advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski (whom I took a class from while in college.)

This was a very big mistake by Denver Post reporter Terry Frei. I do appreciate the explanation and apology, but he had to know that in 2017 it's not enough, and on Monday he was fired.

Washington Post reporter Peter Whoriskey has been doing some great work on the organic food industry. There are things that consumers of organic food should know about the honesty, or lack thereof, of parts of the industry.

I was very pleased to see President Trump give a heartfelt Memorial Day speech (transcript here, video below) in which he did not talk about himself. Yes, I know he talks about himself too much every other day. But one of the most annoying things about our prior president was how he made every holiday about himself, so I was glad for the change.
