My guess: Prosecutors hope to get some dirt on Manafort unrelated to Russia inquiry and use that to pressure him to flip on anybody who might have done anything even slightly wrong during the Trump campaign.
Some liberals have started a petition which already has about 140,000 signatures asking people to boycott NFL games if no team signs Colin Kaepernick to a contract. They have to remember that the ONE team that signs him will face tremendous bad press, whereas no one team will face such press if nobody signs him. Furthermore, I doubt the NFL would even try to push any one team to sign any one player. Still, if the numbers on the petition get very high, the NFL will get some heartburn.
President Trump was wrong/lying to claim in a tweet that he's made America's nuclear arsenal stronger than ever. I hate to admit it but the Washington Post has this one right:
