Thanks to the more than 100 listeners who joined me at the movies last night to see the new film "American Assassin". I think I got to say hi to almost everybody who attended...one of the great parts of my job is meeting listeners so thanks to all of you for a great night.
At 7:36, Christian Toto will join me in studio to talk about what he thought of it...and we'll have plenty of other stuff to talk about as well.
This is going to be a cool conversation! At 6:45 we talk with Phil Larson, assistant dean at CU's college of engineering and applied science, about the "spectacular end of an extraordinary mission" as NASA's Cassini spacecraft is intentionally crashed into Saturn tomorrow!
Last night, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi released a joint statement following a working dinner with President Trump: "We had a very productive meeting at the White House with the president. The discussion focused on DACA. We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”
This morning, the president is tweeting about it, only half pushing back on the Dems' characterization. Conservatives are mad because they want stronger border security but I don't think that's the part that represents the president's real risk (even while I understand his inclination to get a deal done.)
Breitbart.com, a site which represents views held by some substantial fraction of Donald Trump's base, is reacting very negatively, with the headline "Amnesty Don," and sub-hed "Trump caves on DACA, wants 'quick' amnesty for 800K illegal aliens." Wow.
Other current/former Trump supporters are no more pleased:
Ann, don't you remember your most recent book (and associated swag)?
At 8:06, the awesome comedian Bob Marley joins the show (again)! Bob plays tonight, Friday, and Saturday nights at Comedy Works South at the Landmark. I'll have some free tickets to give away! And you can get show info and tickets here:
