President Trump's trade war is heating up. It's an extremely high-risk strategy for Trump and nowhere near the layup to win as he seems to think. Yesterday, Canada instituted retaliatory tariffs against us. This is a mess.
Harley-Davidson is already moving some production to Europe and General Motors is threatening that tariffs may cause them to layoff workers.
It's sad to see "conservatives" looking for reasons to support Trump's distinctly anti-free-trade approach and rhetoric. I do realize that Trump may be using this as a negotiating tactic but the bottom line is that he's been a protectionist and wary of trade for decades. It's one of the few things he seems to believe deeply, and it's the thing he misunderstands the most. This could get very ugly.
