On Tuesday, on Fox News's show "The Daily Briefing" with Dana Perino, I saw the best interview I've ever seen/heard about the subject of President Trump and NATO. It was with former Ambassador Daniel Fried of the Atlantic Council. Ambassador Fried joins the show at 8:06 AM to talk with me about Trump's current trip to meet with NATO, European leaders, and Vladimir Putin.
European Union Council President Donald Tusk gave a short but pointed message to President Trump just before Trump arrived in Europe for meetings with NATO, with European leaders, and then, next Monday, in Helsinki with Vladimir Putin:
The Trump administration announced Tuesday that they were preparing tariffs on another $200 billion of Chinese goods imported into the United States. This is a major mistake by Donald Trump who is not used to facing pushback.
We know what Trump will say about any pushback on trade, whether from China or Europe, based on these comments he made about Europe a couple of months ago:
On Tuesday, a federal judge castigated the administration for being too slow in reuniting illegal immigrant children (or children of asylum seekers who may or may not have entered the country illegally) with their parents. The judge did say, however, that he saw optimistic signs of progress.
It was interesting to see that the story was nowhere on the Fox News homepage, nor did I see it on their airwaves (though I could have missed it.) But in the afternoon shows, it was the number one topic on both CNN and MSNBC.
