Migrants storm the border; US closes port of entry

The Trump administration said they have reached an agreement with Mexico that will have Central American migrants remain in Mexico while their asylum cases are processed, a situation which would dramatically lessen the incentives for the migrants to begin their journeys northward (because so many of the expected to get into the US no matter what and then not show up for their court dates.)

However, likely to due domestic political pressures, a spokesperson for the incoming Mexican president says that no agreement has been made and that discussions remain ongoing.

Meanwhile, at the border, these videos and news tweets speak for themselves, including a handful of migrants rushing through the closed traffic lanes at the San Ysidro border crossing near San Diego.

Mexico says they will deport 500 migrants who rushed the border: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46339085
