Why The 9/11 Museum & Memorial Uses 'Sky Blue'

Tribute in light

Tomorrow, as it does every Sept. 11th, the National 9/11 Museum & Memorial will light up the New York City skyline with two beams of sky-blue light. The beams represent the Twin Towers, but why are they blue?

The shade is known as 'Memorial Blue', and was chosen to symbolize the clear morning skies just prior to the 9/11 attacks

In fact, the Museum has launched a social media campaign inviting people to post photos of the sky on Sept. 11th.

More on the museum's 20th anniversary tribute can be found at 911memorial.org.

Listen to Joe Pags' original song Tuesday Morning remembering 9/11.
