A Texas mother was livid after learning that her three-year-old son got left behind while on a field trip to the rodeo. To make matters worse, the boy's mother, Kelsey Williams, was not told about the incident for three days.
Williams said her son went to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo last week with his classmates from the Head Start program at Thompson Elementary School. At some point during the trip, the young boy, Karter Williams, got separated from the group, and the bus left without him.
"What if he felt like, 'I'm not going to see my mom. My teacher's left me. My friends left me,'" Williams wondered during an interview with KTRK. "Was he crying?"
It is unclear how long Karter was alone, but luckily, another visitor at the rodeo found him wandering through the crowds and managed to connect him with another bus that was returning to his school.
The school did not say anything to Williams when she picked up her son. She didn't find out about the incident until three days later when she received a phone call from the school's principal.
"Why did you not report it?" Williams said. "'Well, he was back at the school, we found him.' 'We' didn't find him. Someone else found him. A man. I don't know the man's name. I don't know what the man looks like. I'm thankful for him, but I don't know who that man is."
Williams said that she believes the teacher should be fired for negligence.
"For you to be so careless, irresponsible, nonchalant," Williams said. "I honestly don't think that she should be an educator or someone to protect children."
