A city with accessible parks, walkable areas, grocery stores stocked with fresh food, and excellent health care services can do wonders for one's health journey. The unfortunate reality is some cities and towns either lack these amenities for their residents or the quality falls behind their peers.
That's why 24/7 Tempo revealed the city with the shortest life expectancy in every state based on research data. According to the website, Pueblo has the lowest life expectancy in Colorado.
The average life expectancy here is 75.12 years compared to the state average of 79.98 years. Over 24% of people don't exercise regularly, and the adult obesity rate is 29.6%. Analysts said 33.9% of adults get less than seven hours of sleep and 17.6% smoke regularly.
The study explained how writers determined their picks:
"To determine the cities in every state with the shortest life expectancy, 24/7 Tempo reviewed data on life expectancy in U.S. metropolitan areas from County Health Rankings & Roadmaps, a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. Additional data on smoking rate, physical inactivity, and insufficient sleep also came from the 2023 CHR."
